MyPotluckParty App

A simplified and enhanced potluck experience

What's missing in the app store?
Potlucks are a popular social activity enjoyed by many but can be challenging to coordinate. People typically bring what they want, resulting in unbalanced meals, and even if a tracking sheet is used, it is cumbersome and hard to manage. There is also a risk for those with food allergies and sensitivities. While enjoyable for most, there exists an opportunity for improvement.
Currently, there is only one app for this purpose in the Google Play store, and it is quite basic with minimal functionality and user interface.
Problem Statement
Design an app that simplifies the potluck coordination process and enables a safer and more enjoyable potluck experience.

The target market is people aged 16–50 living in urban or suburban areas with some disposable income. They like to gather for meals and share food and enjoy cooking, baking, and/or trying new dishes. Before starting the design, I first developed two user profiles and used various techniques such as sorting cards, site map, and user flow to map out the structure of the app.

The Outcome

A MoRE coordinated AND INCLUSIVE potluck experience

The app provides a centralized location to organize a potluck, making it easy to coordinate menu and to communicate among participants. It also allows accomodation of different dietary preferences and restrictions, making it safer and more enjoyable for many.
